Hen Party Card Message

November to Aden (Part 2) by Jacques Bienvenu

; ; Dutra, Geographical Society Copyright

Lucereau The identification of the photograph of Aden has it dating from October 1879 - date of arrival in Aden Lucereau - to August 1880 - date of final departure from this city. The consequences of this identification are critical. Far from proving the presence of Rimbaud on photography as we tried to do, it makes it problematic as first shown by our previous articles. But there's more. The presence of Lucereau can exclude that Rimbaud. Indeed, it would identify a character in the photograph whose presence is attested in Aden with Lucereau before the arrival of Rimbaud in August 1880. Several characters had met Lucereau before the arrival of Rimbaud. Alfred Bardey including that Mr. Lefrère had suspected the presence of other passengers and as Charles had crossed Courret Lucereau twice. But the most serious candidate in my opinion, was Dr. Dutra Belgian who had spent fifteen days with Lucereau Aden in November 1879. The two men had befriended over. So I was looking for a portrait and I Dutrieux found one fairly quickly, a drawing in a book entitled "From Zanzibar to Lake Tanganyika, but unconvincing to appear on the photograph of Aden. But I was going to look at other portraits when I was contacted some time ago by an independent researcher who had followed the same reasoning as me and who had the advantage of having consulted the National Library's portrait of Dutra, very different from what I saw. In reality, I realized at that moment that there had been a mistake for the design Dutra supposed to represent none other than Dr. Maes that we can see a few pages before in the same work here. Should the state? The photograph is authentic, offered to the Geographical Society by a colleague of Dr. Dutra. Also, I found it very surprising that a heat wave in August left the bearded bore a jacket. For a month in Aden as less hot than in November, for example, was more likely.

The face of Peter Joseph Dutra is the National Library. It has the same temples as the very bald bearded gauche.Cette baldness is a very special identifier capital. The eyebrows and forehead are also similar and the implementation of the ear and nose shape.
This photograph was submitted to the Geographical Society of Paris in 1883 by Federico Bolon, Italian living in Egypt and Secretary General of the League Khedivial Geography of Cairo. Dutra was a member Honorary same Company.

Dutra (1848-1889) was a Belgian doctor who had settled in Egypt in 1874. There was then a medical school in Cairo, where he taught. He was also the first physician Belgian expedition of exploration in the direction of Tanganyika. This expedition was organized by the African International Association, established by King Leopold II in 1876.
She encountered many difficulties [1] . It First the death of the leader of the expedition Crespel and physician, Dr. Maes, a few weeks after arriving in Zanzibar in January 1878. Crespel will be replaced by Captain Cambier to whom one may add Wautier while the appeal is made to replace Dr. Dutra for Maes, probably because of his knowledge of diseases in Africa. The new team will depart on exploration into the interior in June 1878.

After many adventures and death of Wautier, Cambier and Dutra arrived in Tabora in March 1879. Cambier then continue to Lake Tanganyika while part of the baggage of the expedition will remain stored in Tabora in the custody of Dutra. He spent several months in Tabora before leaving the expedition and return to the coast.
his arrival, he falls ill and is greeted by French missionaries. He then embarked for Zanzibar, where he spent another week in the infirmary of the French Mission before moving to Aden. He remained fifteen days in Aden where he met Lucereau: "I spent 15 days in Aden with Mr. Lucereau, in November 1879 ..." [2] . Then he joined Cairo. "Party in Cairo on April 78, I was back in November 79 after spending more than a year in East Africa. It took me several months of rest, care and changing air to Europe for me to recover from the harsh attacks of malaria had finally slay me, clapping me a rebel sciatica. " [3]
are found in Belgium Dutra In December 1879, then in Lyon where he gave a lecture at a meeting of the Geographical Society of Lyon in February 1880 [4] and Brussels in March 1880. He returned later in Egypt where he will send a letter from Alexandria in February 1881 to inform the Geographical Society of Paris commercial Lucereau death.
Thus, Dutra was with Lucereau Aden in November 1879. At that time, there was not as Rimbaud arrived only in August 1880.

My belief is that the left is bearded Dutra. I concluded that in this case Rimbaud is not on the photo of Aden.
